Why do You Need to Tell Your Story?
First off, because it matters. Sometimes it is hard to see what your story is or how interesting it may be, but sometimes it takes fresh eyes to look at you and your company and help you draw it out. It matters because you and your employees having a clear sense of who you are and what your business is all about, is essential in moving forward with a healthy company culture.
So often, the real reasons behind running a company can be lost with the hustle and bustle of the every day grind. Stopping and being forced to think about who you are and what you are striving for, can re-invigorate you and your company.
Secondly, humanizing your company, allowing potential clients to see the faces and stories behind a brand, will allow them to make a personal connection with your company. Something that they might not get with another company. The irony of living in a world filled with computers, robots and iPhones is that people crave more then ever to create personal connections. You need to offer them that no matter your product or service.
How do you do this? Through showing your online audience what is important to you and your company and giving them a “behind-the-scenes” look at what you do. Show them on Instagram how you came up with a particular way to varnish a boat or one of your favorite projects to work on. Tell the story behind the “whys” and you will find that your clients and online audience will respond well to that.
